Hi there. I am in bed right now with a million thoughts. On Monday evening I suddenly got a terrible pain behind my ear and up the side of my head. By Tuesday the scalp and part of my face were numb while the area behind the ear remained so painful. Only on the left side. The week before I had a 3 day migraine and was dizzy and nauseated and just "off". I finally saw the dr today and was told that either it's a compressed nerve in my neck/spine that has pinched everything, or I have something called Giant Cell Arteritis which is like a type of cranial rheumatism - or both. I was treated by the chiropractor for the spine and sent home to rest for the next 3 days with very strong muscle relaxers. The idea is that if I feel better by Monday then it was just a pinched spinal nerve. If not, then I have to go to a rheumatologist and get more tests and start treatment to prevent deafness and blindness and/or stroke. I'm trying to stay positive but I just feel numb. IP: Logged |

Thanks Lexxi. It is nice to have the support for sure. I just feel pretty confused. It's weird, on the one hand I feel totally calm. On the other, I feel this really intense grief under the surface. But it could all just be nothing! Maybe it was just a pinched nerve in my spine and in a few days I'll be right as rain! I find it really weird to not know. Over the past month, I've been trying to understand how to heal my relationship with god and to have more faith. To just let go and stop trying to control everything. Is it a coincidence that this experience then shows up in my life? I wonder... The nerve pain around my ear and numbness in my face has improved since they gave me the medication and adjusted my spine. But I still have a sore back and weird roving joint pain all over. Could just be further adjustments working themselves out. Don't know. I also wondered, if as I've made the commitment to care for my body the way I care for my emotions and spirit, if some stuff has just come up to be looked at around that. One thing is for sure... in 24 hours I have totally shifted my attention from all the things I wish I had to how grateful I am for everything that I already have... That is a very humbling experience. I'm really sorry that you have to live with all of those illnesses... But I can also imagine that it must be a part of what makes you so compassionate. I'd never had never pain before. Now that I know what it's like, I'm very sympathetic to anyone who has to live with that! IP: Logged |

Ceres_Moon {{{hugs }}} Are you feeling any better? I am so sad that you are having physical troubles. I must apologize for not replying to you in full yet; but it is because I've been/am going through a rather nasty stretch the past few days and only now starting to come out of it; finally draining a monster baseball size infection on my leg. Very painful. So will return hopefully this evening! At least baking soda poultices will work now on it. Please rest and all. {{{hugs}}} IP: Logged |

Hi Lexxi, so sorry to hear that... does the baking soda help to draw out the pain as well? I am feeling better as the medication I was started on did actually help... I still have tenderness behind my ear where that nerve is, but it's not throbbing anymore and I have regained a lot of the hearing I had lost. I'm still not really sure what it all means though... Was it just my C1 disc seriously messed up, or is it the arthritis? I think I will have to just be patient. I have also come to the conclusion that what I'm being asked to do on a larger level is to practice forgiveness for the things that happened to me earlier in my life. I have tried and tried, but I still hold onto bitterness and resentment towards my family. Now I think that is something I really have to work on - for my own sake. I saw a quote, "Resentment is like taking poison and waiting for the other person to die" and that really hit me.... I find forgiveness a very difficult thing to do. I am a Scorpio! IP: Logged |

What didid the doctor say? And what kind of meds? Sounds like it could be many different things. quote: Originally posted by Ceres_Moon:

I am also a Scorpio. My take on forgiveness is; Forgive for your own health and sanity; but never forget! When one forgets why they had to finally forgive; they can also slip up and let whatever transpired before, transpire again. Basically; take note: Just because you have evolved and changed for the better; does not mean the other person(s) have changed for the better. I hope that made sense. My leg is a wee bit better; so hopefully I can sit up better this evening. Back as soon as possible!

Well so far, they don't know. It's like I have the symptoms of RA or the temporal arteritis, but I don't have the redness or swelling - just the nerve pain. To be honest, I had a similar experience in 2009/2010. I had severe joint pain all over my body that no one could explain and I did not test positive for any rheumatoid. So they called it fibromyalgia and put my on steroids and pain killers and it was hell. I eventually healed myself of that through mind over matter. I decided I didn't have fibro. I got a personal trainer and forced myself to do core exercises, got off the medication, switched to a more plant-based diet and used the HEEL Homeopathy Detox kit. Within 6 months I was perfectly fine. At that time in my life, I was in a bad place. I was depressed, married to my first husband (not good) living in a country I didn't like (australia) and I figured it was like my body rejecting my attachment to a life that didn't work for me at all. This time, I have less of the all-over pain (though I do have some... in my hands, wrists and arms) and the intense nerve pain on the left side of my head is a totally new thing. But I'm also in a very good place in life. Remarried very happily. Working on my new education etc. Granted, I am struggling in the netherlands and am going through a kind of "reboot" in terms of my work and social life. But I can hardly say that I'm hiding out and my life is a mess... It's not. It's just being slowly rebuilt. I found the homeopathy kit (discontinued in the USA but I found it in the UK) and have ordered it. I'm doing Qi Gong and I ordered the book by Desmond Tutu and his daughter on forgiveness. That's my personal prescription right now. The anti-inflammatories do help...whatever that means... They take the edge off for sure. Other than that, I'm kind of avoiding too much contact with the medical industry because they always want to just slap a label on everything and pump me full of drugs that I don't think I really need, and which tend to make me feel worse. Personally, I think I've got some kind of nerve problem originating in my spine. Something is telling my brain that the nerves are inflamed and generating pain - even when they aren't. It's some kind of body-brain mixup going on. IP: Logged |

That's good to hear! It might not just be you maybe? Lots of folks have been complaining of feeling more ill than usual at various fb groups. I have been having a rough patch the past week or so. Barely got out of bed Saturday. Wishing you a fast recovery! IP: Logged |

I am doing better now! I had a spinal compression and they also think I had a mastoid bone infection. It was just back luck that it all happened at once. I'm still getting treatments at the chiropractor and the infection is just about cleared up now. It was a rough month though... And a lot has changed! IP: Logged |

Same here; awful year; not better so far this year. Been sick on and since about Halloween 2017. I do not know what is up; but almost continuously sick with one type of bug after another since then. Some just miserable; some like the ones I have been fighting since January; are downright scary. I hope 2018 goes better for you! <3 Did you get your degree?
