Let's see...

We've finally started to get just enough warm weather for some flowers and fruits/veggies to start coming up.

Our pretty Rhododendron bushes are starting to bloom in the back yard (the purple one is, at least), and for Mother's Day I bought a ton of pansies and violas to plant.

Digging up some of the sod that has grown into the front garden area was a little weird (way too many spiders), but I got it done.

Violas planted in the back, where there's less shade, and now to plant the pansies in the front by the house.

We're going on 1.5 years in our home, and we've done so much work on the inside, and making our vegetable garden, that the front yard flowers have suffered a bit.

In the garden...herbs are coming up nicely, it's full of lemon balm and oregano (now I need to pick it, sun-dry it, and put it in some jars for later use).

So here is the exciting news from our vegetable garden:

Starting to grow (no food yet, but it won't be long)...

Very small strawberries, peas, potatoes, and lettuce, yay! The onions and beets are starting to poke their way out of the ground as well, so fresh salads are on the way!

In other news...strawberries! Whooot! I've managed to salvage some before the birds got to them (I still haven't got the net up, although I did get the garden weeded and the pathway almost complete).

Had to pick some while they were pink, and let them ripen in the window. They're a little tart yet, but since it's our first time growing strawberries, I'm nerding out on them, haha.

Also, roses. Pink, red, and fuschia!

Horizon doesn't carry them anymore, but I have been gathering only the Deepest Reds for Seed. It was a really funny thing, but circumstances brought me back to the same house where they were first planted, and lo and behold, they were still there.

My daughter gathered these before we left, and I got the first Bloom today.
